Installation guide for Mac OS X

Download

First, please download the software sources BunKi*1.

Installation

  • Extract BUNKI-ver.zip where you want to install it on your computer.
    • For the following explanation, we assume that all the files are extracted in the directory /Users/user/Desktop*2*3
    • After the BUNKI-ver.zip is extracted, the install directory is as follows:

      index.php?plugin=attach&refer=Install_mac&openfile=extract.png

      /Users/user/Desktop/BUNKI

Configuration

BUNKI installation path must be set. As there are several methods, please choose the one most fitted to your situation out of the following.

  1. Automatic addition of the install path on MATLAB startup (Recommended)
  2. Run the addpath command in the MATLAB command window

  • Automatic addition of the install path on MATLAB startup (Recommended)
    • By modifying Matlab's startup file (startup.m), it is possible to customize Matlab's environment variables and user's paths. If the startup file exists in the user's default path, Matlab loads it upon startup, and runs the script it contains*4бе
    • Please make sure to set the following procedure:
    1. Create a matlab directory under the user's home directory.
      % mkdir ~/matlab
    2. Under the matlab directory, create a startup.m file.
      % cd ~matlab
      % touch startup.m
    3. By using an appropriate editor, we will enter the BunKi install path in the startup.m file. Enter the path where BUNKI is, as follows:
      addpath /Users/user/Desktop/BUNKI
    4. This is the end of the installation and the configuration.

  • Run addpath command in the MATLAB command window*5.
    1. Starts up MATLAB.
    2. Run the following command in MATLAB command window.
      >> addpath /Users/user/Desktop/BUNKI
    3. This is the end of the installation and the configuration.

*1 BunKi comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions; for details see LICENSE.
*2 user means login user name
*3 There is not limitation for the directory to extract the installation file. If you extract the file on another directory, then you change the installation path.
*4 Because startup.m doesn't exist when launching Matlab for the first time after installation, each user has to create it individually.
*5 The added path setting is reset when exit out of MATLAB. The addition of the path, therefore, must done every startup of MATLAB.
